Eco-friendly lifts for BREEAM sustainability assessments

As energy efficiency and environmental protections become increasingly important, we can carry out lift installations designed specifically to score a full two BREEAM credits, with additional drive options for even more energy savings.

The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method is an international standard to score and rate eco-friendly and green buildings. They help lift designers and contractors to identify and focus on a range of factors that can enhance or reduce just how environmentally friendly any installation is. Whilst the lifts may seem a small feature of the energy footprint of any large building, it's increasingly important and encouraged for architects and designers to look for energy savings everywhere they can.

Dainton Lift Services supply a range of passenger lift designs and machinery focused entirely on scoring the full two BREEAM credits possible for lifts, and offering incredible flexibility in terms of carrying capacity, entrances, and other specifications. Scoring BREEAM credits relies on both the product, and the methodology used to install it, and our team offer extensive experience of working through the process;

BREEAM
Energy analysis

Energy analysis of your lift installation

A detailed analysis of traffic, transport demand, and usage patterns is carried out on your lift installation, so that different lift systems can easily be compared by calculating energy consumption given the traffic analysis. Every building is different and it's not always a simple answer as to which lift is the most eco-friendly, the detailed traffic analysis allows practical comparisons of an installation specifically for your property.

Energy consumption and saving features

Dainton Lift Services score this second credit thanks heavily to a Variable Voltage Variable Frequency drive, which can switch in an out of stand-by modes during idle or off-peak hours. Further energy savings are achieved through LED lighting and low-energy dot-matrix control panel screens.

Energy saving
Regenerative energy

Regenerative lift drive option

An optional additional feature is a regenerative drive, which can convert the mechanical and electrical energy created by lift operation into electricity to feed back into the building power system helping reduce the need for electricity from the mains. These drives tend to be most cost-effective on high traffic lifts and buildings above 6 storeys.
